a couple of weeks ago i purchased a 2004 fx140 and put it on the water for the first time this weekend. I run with 2 buddies that own 97 GTXs and i could not keep up at all. They would tell me i would top out at 48 MPH because another issue i found was that the speedometer always shows 0. Does anybody have any ideas as to the speedometer issue and why i could only get up to 48 MPH on glass water? I left the machine in the water over night and found it filled with water in the morning, after playing around with it i found a cracked drain plug that aparently cracked due to over tightening, is this a common problem? any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
Just wondering if someone can help before spending too much money on a dealer...
I let the ski sit for about 10 months ,starting it up every other month or so. Finally the battery died and I tried charging it with no luck. I purchased a new batter and put it in but it still doesn't start. I don't even get that cranking sound when it's trying, all we get is a click that sounds like a thump??
I'm going now to buy a new charger and see if it needs some initial charging or the battery??
Any help is appreciate?
Thanks,

Hello,

I'm new to the PWC Forum, which was recommended by a friend as a good place to get an answer to my questions...so here goes...

1) Do I need to replace the carb jets (main, pilot or both) after having the top end rebored? The top end was enlarged by 0.050 and the engine now runs quite rough at idle, doesn't develop much power and often stalls after a few seconds while riding.

2) This is an RA700AT. I don't know which engine is in it and would appreciate guidance on how to find that out.

3) Also appreciate any tips on where to find the best deal on carb rebuild kits/parts, including new jets if size needs to change (per question 1).

Thanks for any insights/guidance.

So I've searched and searched and can't really find a suitable answer for my question. So I'll just post it and see what you think. Since I don't have a jug of the tigershark 50:1 my owner's manual recommends, I'm not sure what oil I should use instead. I did see a gallon on ebay last week for $49 + $20 for shipping. What specifics should I look for in comparison to the Tigershark oil? I've read that I should use a TCW3 oil, and I've read NOT to use TCW3 oil. It really shouldn't be this difficult, should it? :dunno: I picked up a gallon of TCW3 Pennzoil 2 cycle marine oil at Advance Auto for $15.99. What do you guys use?

We are in the process of setting up to cut and build bunk glides for boat and PWC trailers here at our shop. For the PWC trailers, I will be using 3" x 16" x .5" HDPE plastic. They will have countersunk holes and come with (4) stainless steel mounting screws. They can be mounted directly over top of your wooden bunks.

Out of curiosity, would you guys be interested in these at $5.50 each? Typical PWC trailer would take 6 pieces and doubles would take 12

These make loading and unloading 60%-80% easier than carpeted bunks.

I want to chsnge the oil since it was rolled and want to make sure there is no water in my crank case. I am new to Kawasaki and the manual shows an arrow under the oil dipstick and I can not see where it is when looking (big head)

Also I could the ski stopped running while I was flushing it out (gas ran out) and I did not notice for about 10 minutes, will this cause an issue for the four strokes if the ski was tilted back to allow for drainage.
It starts fine but I want to make sure before we get back out on water.

Hi there,

Looking for advice on my 1997 GP1200 w/ < 90 hrs. When running on the hose on the trailer and using mediocre water pressure, no water comes out the side pisser. Good water pressure results in a weak stream of water. Disconnecting the outlet hose and fitting from the exhaust reveals the same pressure of water (or none), thus there’s no clog in that hose.

Additional notes:
1)	Engine does not appear to be overheating – no alarms – even when taking it out on the water for the day and running WOT.
2)	Decent water flow out of jet pump area (hose/trailer)
3)	Minimal, water coming out of rear exhaust port (hose/trailer)
Do I have a clog somewhere in the engine and/or exhaust system?

Last compression test (a few weeks ago) was 120 on all three cylinders. I can run it again to double-check, but I don’t imagine I have an issue there.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!

The ski will run and rev fine on the hose in the driveway, but will not rev in the water. I can hold the throttle wide open and the ski barley goes 7 -10 mph and maybe 2500 rpm was to pissed off to remember the rpm reading. The carbs just got rebuilt and the motor is new to me pulled from a good running ski. I checked the compression and it was 115 mag side 120 pto side the ski was cold and not run before the test and the battery is possibly a little weak, did the same test on my good running xp 720 and the numbers were almost the same. I did not have the flame arrestor in place during the water test (air box was open) would this effect the pop off pressure? It sounds to me like the ski is not getting enough fuel I should of pumped the primer a few times to see if the rpms picked up. No gray fuel lines are in this ski but I have not cleaned the selector switch yet. Anyone have any clues
