Default My experience with Yamaha FZR

So this past spring I began researching for a new ski. I settled on the FZR. Then I came to this forum and was scared to death about the "bucking" stories. I bought anyway.

I put 30 hours on it this summer and had the time of my life. The rig is insane fast and bites the water in the turns like its on rails. I was pitched off a couple of times but it was totally my falt. Screwing around, high speed, turing, spashing, etc. I just can't see people driving straight, not screwing around, and getting thrown off. Just don't see it happening. I've run this thing to the edge in all kinds of water.

I'm 6'6 and about 230 lbs. This this thing is super comfortable to sit on. To stand on. Looks awesome!

Thanks Yamaha for building the rockingest ski ever!

Oh ya! Thanks for reminding me. A guy I met on the Lake with an 08 RXP rode mine and I rode his, at the same time. Neither of us could believe the out of the whole pick up, and rough water ride on the FZR compared to the RXP. The RXP is a nice little buggy but doesn't compare.

That is the 215 hp version, The RXP-X 255 would be a more comprable comparision. You would feel real bad if you dared to race my 2006 RXT trust me you would make about a half dozen FZR's who tried it and lost. But that is an unfair comparision too as I am pushing about 300 hp.

The real reason for my post is just to offer some clarification to some of the scary posts regarding the "bucking". I just didn't have that experience.

Then I mis-posted. The seadoo I rode was a 2 seat 255 rig. Maybe I got the model and or year wrong but it was the 2 seat 255 seadoo.

I'm sure your 300hp in light chop or calm water would pull away from the FZR, but the FZR chews up the heavy rough water. Your 300 ponies wouldn't help you in that. It would be like a 20 foot baja that does 120mph versus a 42' Cigarette that does 80mph. In the rough the baja would be at the dock!

Don't be too sure about that. The RXT is a three seat ski which handles chop equally as well as the FZR my friend has one and in open water he can't leave me. 75 % of it is the driver. As you said my RXT from a dead stop to flat out it is amazingly faster accelerating out of the hole and all the way to top end. From a 20 mph roll it is worse, the my 2006 RXT takes off like it is runnin nitrous and puts ten skis on the FZR to top end.

Thats what tuned mods do...later

Yeah, good idea! Take a stock FZR against a heavily modded RXT. Drop another $8k in that FZR on mods and compare that!
