Default Before starting up the ultra 150

Hey was just wondering if anyone had any tips on what to do before starting up a jetski that has been sitting in the garage for 2 years not touched. Its my dads jetski that I am looking at buying it, it's a 2000 model Kawasaki ultra 150 don't think he winterized it or did anything to it before storing it? Any ideas don't want to just jump on it and try and kick it over.. This will be my first jetski.

Pull the spark plugs and spray some fogging oil into the cylinders. Let it soak then try turning the engine over by hand with the plugs out. Be sure the impeller isn't corroded to the wear ring or pump housing.....very possible if its been sitting. This will make it impossible to turn the engine, so make sure the impeller is free first.

Most likely the carbs, fuel filter and lines may be gummed with old fuel. I'd pull the carbs and clean them as a minimum. Once you get them apart, it may be evident that they need to be rebuilt.

Look for corroded electrical terminals and clean them up. Unplug and plug connectors on the harness will freshen up the contacts.

After the above, replace fuel filters, put in fresh fuel and oil, clean the plugs, new battery, then give it a try.

One big problem I see often on skis that are put away without doing any engine prep is that the rings rust and lock in the cylinders. Not a bad idea to do a compression check while you have the plugs out. That may answer some questions if it doesn't run properly.
