Default How hard is it to get financed for a Sea Doo?

Hi all, my name is Bruce. I'm going to be trying to get financing for a new Sea Doo GTI130 tomorrow. I unfortunately had to claim bankruptcy last year, so we'll be applying for the loan 100% in my girlfriends name (her credit is very good) and putting $2,000 down. In you guys' experience, is getting financing hard? I understand BRP finances their stuff through Sheffield Financial. In you guys' experience was it difficult to get financing?

Thanks,
Bruce

financing is good... but trust me, cash is better. NOT TO MENTION, that regardless of make or model of ski, you're going to run into maintenance issues. Take my advice and be sure to set aside some funds for maintenance because you will run into trouble down the road, especially with a 4 stroke engine. Those are a fortune to repair.

You're telling me everything I don't wanna hear lol.
I thought 4 strokes were so reliable, etc?! Also, I hear nothing but good things about BRP/Sea Doo's warranty. Is this not true?

4strokes are pretty reliable, but it is mechanical, and anything mechanical can and will fail in time. It's WHEN they fail that it gets expensive. I've also seen alot of dealers (not BRP, in particular) weasel their way out of a warranty repair by claiming customer abuse/neglect. You still are responsible for maintenance, especially while it's under warranty.

And there's other issues that can happen besides a true mechanical malfunction. Hit a submerged rock or treelimb, crappy boatramp, backed into something with the ski on the trailer, stuff just happens. Remember, it's a BOAT. Bust Out Another Thousand.

There are many reasons someone may or may not finance, and it is not my place to judge. Personally though, I've always chosen to avoid it whenever possible. All my toys (ski included) are in good-used condition. This has allowed me to: 1. Have more toys 2. Keep money aside for maintenance 3. Keep my credit wide open for unforeseen emergencies. Look into the used market and see what you can find! You can have a ton of fun, learn how things work by doing your own repairs, and save up for a new ski while you do so! Good luck!

I hear you on this. And while I'm not against buying SOME THINGS second hand, things like sea doo's, motorcycles, etc are NOT things I buy second hand. Bottom line is people lie to sell what they have. "Oh man, it's never been in salt water", "oh man, I never dogged it out", etc. Yeah, the weekend before the same guy had three people on it pulling a 3 person tube. So that's what brand new is the only option for me with things like this. When you buy second hand you just don't know what the person before you has put it through, you don't know if they maintenance it properly, unless they have receipts, etc.
And The note is only going to be $180/month. We're going pick it up this afternoon. That's far from breaking the bank and to be honest, it's money I won't miss at all so I don't see it as that big of a deal. Thanks for everyone's input! I'll certainly be putting aside a few bucks here and there for maintenance and all, especially as I understand break in maintenance will be like $200 or so by itself.

I have had no issues financing both my Yamaha skis thru Yamaha themselves with the deals they provide, but I have good credit.
I do not know what others are talking about, I have had ZERO issues with my 10 year old Yamaha FX140, other than dead batteries, and yearly oil changes etc... I have had no problems, and I would be surprised if you have issues with any new ski, but maybe seadoos have more issues, but I would be surprised. You can obviously have issues if you hit something, but just be careful.

From what I'm reading on countless reviews and from owners is that the whole new GT line-up are bulletproof so long as they are maintenance properly. Combined with SeaDoo's awesome warranty, I can't seem to understand what the fuss is about myself but, hey, maybe others have had bad experiences. I donno. lol

Only thing I can't seem to get is a definite answer on what the top speed is. I see anywhere from 55 to low 60's.
