Default 2012 FX SHO winterizing question

I am winterizing my 2012 Yam FX SHO and FZR. I hit all the lube points and topped off fuel tanks with treated fuel. I have a can of Yamaha engine fogging oil. I heard a few different ways to do it so I called a local dealer. Service tech said to take the hose leading from the air filter and start motor shooting oil into the 3" tube. Run 15 seconds and shut off. I did that but got no fogging out of exhaust. A lot of oil came out of the short hose. Things didn't seem right. I called another dealer and he said pretty much the same thing. I told him I did that and there was oil dripping out of the tube and the engine didn't bog down at all. He said it should be okay.

I am not feeling it is done correctly. This big tube leads right to the supercharger and the blades have some oil on them. I am guessing this is NOT the right spot. Hoping it won't damage anything with the supercharger.

Anyone have any experience with working with this motor. I only have 6 hrs on it and will change the oil in the summer.. Just want to get the cylinder fogged without removing the plugs.

Is there an easier way to get this done? I have the 2009-2012 service manual from Yamaha but already found their diagrams are off and it says nothing about fogging/winterizing. The regular manual just gives the basics.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Why don't you just have the dealer do it?

Sounds like you are in the right area. Here is a diagram that might help:

Look at hose #2. You want to take it off where it enters the air intake pipe and spray the fogging oil in there. You may not see much come out the exhaust. A thin layer of oil on the pistons and valves is what you are shooting for. Most guys claim a 5 second spray with the engine running should suck the oil right into the system. I haven't done it myself on this model, so don't know for sure.

Other option is pull the plugs, give a spray of fogging oil down each plug hole, then spin the engine over for a few seconds to distribute the oil (hold the stop button when pressing the start button will retard spark to protect the electrical system, and I think it will also retard fuel flow). You may want to cover the holes with a rag, so you don't get splattered.

Good Luck!
