Default Battery specs 1995 Sea Doo GTX

it of a tech ignoramous. We use the Sea Doo as a rescue and teaching tool in a watersports centre in Central America. Good mechanics are few and far between. I have had an issue with a number of different batteries over the last 2-3 years. The skis are out of the water for 6 months during the rainy season when the centre is closed. During this time the battery is on a trickle charger 1 week on 1 week off, alternating with another PWC battery. During the "season" we have issues with the battery loosing its charge. Sometimes the PWC is not used for 2-3 days and we use a solar panel trickle charger to keep it topped up. However it sometimes after 3-4 days does not have enough charge to start the craft. Any suggestions as to possible causes? There have been two different batteries involved, a Die Hard and a Odyssey, both batteries with great reputations. Any help appreciated

You came to the right place. i am the battery KING. I would not leave a battery in a watercraft first off. Always remove the battery. Make sure you store it in a dry warm place and have it on trickle charge. Batteries that are wet cell tend to poor performance. Wet Cell meaning that they are filled with acid that looks like water. I highly recommend switching to a sealed cell or gel cell battery. Most of this cost a bit more than a acid filled battery but give much better service. The benefits out weigh the costs. No damage to your hull and they are much much dependable. Most come with a 2 year warranty as well. Most wet cell batteries I have found work fine for 1 season and then have to be replaced the next season. Nothing worst than being on the water and hit the starter and it does not have the power to turn the starter. Just my experience over the past 25 years. Invest in a gel cell battery. Never leave the battery in the watercraft during storage. Remove and place on trickle charge. Keep in a dry and warm area. Most trickle chargers are really cheap. Harbor Frieght or Northern tools sell trickle chargers on sale sometime as low as 5 bucks. Check them out. I purchased 9 of them last time they went on sale. I also use a charger that allows me to charge 4 batteries at one time. Hope this helps.
