Default Virgin Jetskier wants your advice

Hi everyone,
I'm from Sydney Australia, I am in the process of obtaining my pwc license but not really sure which Jetski to buy.

I am looking at two models, the Kawasaki ultra300x or a Yamaha.

Can someone give me some details of a Yamaha that has around about the same power as the ultra300x ?

Secondly, I just found out that I can't install a towbar on my car so I have to use an older car(Mazda 3 hatch) to tow this, now has anyone got any details on towing jetskis with a car like this?

Any info would be nice. Thanks

There is no stock Yamaha that is close to 300 hp, Yamaha is very secretive about their HP ratings. I did get a dealer at last years Atlantic City Boat show to tell though. He said the FZR/FZS were about 220 hp as I remember. Which is pale in comparison. You should really look at the Seadoo RXT-X 260 HP. My 2006 RXT is approx 300 hp with mods and walks the dog on a stock 300x on flat water, it runs out at 74-76 mph on GPS depending on conditions. But it gets there faster.

Good luck

+1 on the numbers Outlaw gave you. Nothing comes close to the Kaw 300 as far as horsepower, but I would put both the Seadoo RXT and the Yamaha FZR/S or the FXHO ahead of the Kaw on my shopping list. Do a search about problems with the 300 leaning due to the unbalanced engine and waterbox. Kaw skis are also pretty consistently less reliable than the other brands, and has a very thirsty engine. Stock speed for all are going to be very close, but there are many upgrade options for Seadoo and Yamaha to get you faster, if you have the $$$.

If I wanted the fasted most stable ski for ocean conditions, I'd look at the Seadoo RXT. If I wanted the most stable fuel efficient ski for ocean conditions, I'd look at the Yamaha FXHO.

+2 I totally agree with Ernest, also as I mentioned on the 300x thread the Kawasaki dealer network is a beg compared to Yamaha and Seadoo...

Take Care,
