Default Bad Cdi????

No spark, so I checked the coil and it was bad. Replaced the coil but didn't check CDI and V regulator/rectifier at the same time. The new coil didn't fix the problem - still no spark.

Now I've checked the CDI and V reg/rect and both are bad. In addition both spark plug caps/connectors are open.

The question is could a CDI failure cause the V reg/rect, coil, and both spark plug connectors to fail? I'm hoping it isn't something upstream (i.e., magneto). Thanks for your help.

with electronics, start with the basics first. check, clean, tighten all grounds. clean battery cables and terminals. charge battery. check all connections for corrosion.

A bad CDI prolly wouldn't kill all those other parts. First I would check all of your connections like JeepFamily suggested. Then if everything checks out, I would be concerned and looking for a short circuit somewhere. That WILL kill all of the components you're having problems with. Check for a short BEFORE you install a new CDI so you don't end up having to do it again.
