New to Jet Skis

I'm new to jet skis and don't know much of anything about them. I've gained interest in possibly buying a pair for the family and am looking for general advice for a first time user. If someone could provide a basic list of things to consider for a first time user that would be great. A few questions I had: What should I be looking for if buying used ones? Are there any obvious problems that one could see which would cause required repair? Any blockers to watch out for that could cause disappointment? What are the best features of a jet ski to look for? I'd be looking to get two with a trailer for around $5000.

Thank you in advance!
