Default What stand ups to get

Hi guys, newbie here. This is my dilema. I am 44 yrs old, 6'1 220 lbs. Never had a standup, but would like to get one or two for myself and my 14 and 7 yr old daughters. Been looking at pairs on trailers to get the "package deal" question is, will a 550 work for me? or do I need a 650 or better. I know the 550 would work for kids, but would they be able to handle a 650? I need to know what package to look for, and not get the wrong pieces. Any other model suggestions would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Are you an active 44? Motocross background, snow, wake, or skate? The reason I ask is, I find them all to be pretty similar. Mainly moto, but it's the balance and being coordinated. The kids would be fine on a 650, and be able to grow into the full power. Throttle control like with anything else is key. Tip for you, don't just hammer the throttle when trying to get up. You don't have to go fast to get up on these things. Start with really wide turns. Now for the package I would look for, 91 or newer if your going to go with the 550s. They have the rear exhaust hull, and the better reed motor. Stock is a bonus. If your pretty active and agile, I would recommend a 750 for yourself. They seem to have less problems, and will have all the power your going to want as you learn. They corner so much better, and really aren't that much more expensive... at least in my area if you take your time to shop. I just saw a 95 I think an SXI, but it may have just been the SX for a 1000, it was clean too. If you know anyone who is even somewhat decent at riding them, I would take them with you and ask them to test ride them for you. Do a compression check on them, and in the mean time ask any questions that pop into your head. Pick peoples brains on what it is your looking for when you go.

Thanks for the info. Yes I do have a motorcycle and quad riding, wakeboard, skiing background. I am near Temecula ca, so if anyone is close, let me know if you have something I can use.

Thanks again
