Default Hull damage

To make a long story short; I hit a boulder in the water and have a crater in the hull, about 10" by 5". The craft is taking on water slowly . I was wondering how much would it cost to repair the damage? I would also like to know so I don't feel ad if I got ripped off.

Unfortunately, that kind of damage can be very expensive to repair correctly (I'm talking $1000s in many cases to have it done by a pro). If you post up a photo, it would help. The location of the damage..........does it involve compound curves, chines, the keel, etc. will add to the cost. Is it a fiberglass hull or SMC (many Kaw and Yamaha hulls are SMC), which will generally make it a more expensive repair.

Depending on the value of the ski, it is often cheaper to look for a used hull that someone is parting out, than trying to do a major repair like that.

I have a 2008 yamaha fx cruiser HO. The damage is a bit before the metal plate towards the back of the hull. Il post pictures up, one place quoted me 3000. I Duno if it's just me but that sounds a bit excessive .

Yea, it gets expensive. Last year my son ran my ski over a rock. The result was mostly deep scrapes with a couple of 1/4" deep gouges, but nothing through the hull. I got a quote from a guy at my marina for $1800. I ended up doing the repair myself over the winter. It was not easy, very labor intensive, even for this small repair, so I can see why the cost can get high.

We have the same ski, so your hull is the Nanoxcel SMC material. Be sure whoever does the repair uses an epoxy system and you will be OK. I used West system, since it had everything but the paint in the repair kit.
