Default Hauling a tube when not in use? Other tubing inputs?

I'm the proud owner of two new GTI-SE Sea Doo skis. I just passed the 10 hour mark on them and am now looking to sling the kids around in a tube this weekend. I have a couple of maybe obvious questions... How do I haul the tube when not in use for a good while out in the water? Do I just tie it up close to the ski and let it bounce in the water while underway? Or is it recommended to take it ashore immediately? Also, any other tubing tips (length of rope, speed, etc.)? Thanks!

No matter what you do you HAVE to keep the rope away from the impeller. I think it would be annoying trying to short tie it to the ski. I'd take it to the shore or put it back in my vehicle after you're done with it.

I short tie mine all the time, I actually tie it so close it is hanging off the rear deck for less drag while going to our spot about a mile from ramp. My problem is gettin the tube to the the ski from the dock. I have the Airhead Storm three seater couch 114 " wide this thing is huge.

If you pull the tube without anyone on it, do it like Outlaw said, with it close to the ski (with the tube hanging off the deck) to keep the front end up. Otherwise the tube will try to submarine. Its really hard to try to tow it otherwise.

BEWARE THE ROPE. I towed a brand new ski to shore last weekend after the rider had sucked the rope into his pump. It happens frequently. I've done it myself, and it is a major PITA to get it out.

Depending on the tube, it also helps to train your tube riders to shift the weight to the back of the tube when you first start off to keep the front end from diving.

Other common mistake that I often see is under inflated tubes. You need to really pump them up until they are rock hard. You should be able to stand on them without seeing much depression. If you keep them inflated properly they are much easier to tow, and will not tend to dive as much.

Had a great afternoon out with the kids on the tube. Tied the tube as close to the tow cleat as possible and a couple of bungees to the two rear cleats. It rode perfectly. You guys are right in that you have to watch the rope closely so that it stays out of the intake. As long as you have a buoyant rope and pay attention to where it is, it's not too hard to keep it out.

Today was the first outing after the 10 hour break-in and with the unrestricted key on the SE 155. What a blast! Next up is to look into a wakeboard for me and to teach the wife to pull me!
