Default Looking to buy my first PWC

Hey guys I'm new to the forum here. I have been looking into purchasing my first PWC. I have really been considering both the yamaha vx sport and the new seadoo gti 130. Based on my research the seadoo appears to be more bang for my buck, plus with the deal they have going on that allows you to finance for 139 a month, it's enticing me. I was wondering if you guys could chime in with your opinions. I live in southern california so I plan on taking it out to the local lakes as well as the river every now and then. Also I am still researching but could someone give me an idea of how much insurance runs for a PWC as well as what type of maintenance costs are involved? Thanks, any response will be much appreciated. Im hoping to go this weekend and buy one.

Just bought a 2011 Yamaha VX Deluxe. Just took it today for our 10 hour service. It's a perfect all around ski. Can go all day on a tank, has great power, pulls anything I need it to pull and goes as fast as I want it to go. Has reverse and remote to secure it. You can't go wrong here.

Arrow Seadoo is the smart choice

You have done your research well because the 2011 Seadoo GTI 130 Was voted PWC of the year by PWC today. It was the fit and finish and unparalled technology. The drive by wire, S3 stepped hull and nicer seat are just a few of the advantages over the old design that Yamaha has been using for years is now dated and antiquated. Also if you take people tubing that annoying bicycle flag, I mean water spout blocks visibility and drenches the tuber.

The Seadoo is hands down better in every aspect.

PWC insurance is all over the place. Pricing is primarily based on your car driving record, where you live i.e. the more opportunity you have to use it due the warm climate and the type of ski you are insuring. Most likely any where from $300.00 a year to $800 a year

GTI by far.... 20 more horsepower, 400cc larger engine, brake, ITC throttle control, stepped hull, far better looking

As far as used models go. What would you guys recommend. Getting more into the financing I'm not sure if I can afford everything since I newd all the gear trailer etc. I'm looking for a 3 seater for some family fun but that may not break the bank for me. Lol I'm a simple college student working a part time job. I'm doung everything I can to try for the new gti but just in case what do you guys recommend?

Go for an older model GTI. Same engine and performance, just different styling. The non-supercharged 4-tec is bullet proof. Getting into the SC's versions (pre 2006) and you run into all sorts of reliability issues. The SC washers need to be changed or they can shatter into your engine, the SC needs rebuilt ever hundred hours, the SC stresses your engine more, etc etc. If you aren't mechanically inclined i would stay NA.

The 2005-2009 yamaha VX110 is pretty much bulletproof in case you can't find a good GTI. It has 20 less HP and 400 less CC's (less torque) but only lacks about 3 mph on the GTI in top speed.

I just bought a 2011 FX SHO and insurance is $350/yr here in Texas. It was based mostly upon price of the PWC and a little on HP because going from the HO to SHO only increased the cost by $30/yr. I use State Farm and they insure my house and cars as well.

Well I went to a couple dealers these past few days and worked on trying to finagle a deal. Lowest I got was $6999 for the gti 130 with life jackets thrown in. Out the door was gonna be $9,222. Plus I need a trailer. Problem was I could not get financed without a cosigner because I do not have a long enough credit history . I am gonna keep on trying to find a cosigner. Was that seadoo deal good? I had a dealer try and talk me into a vx sport but my heart is set on the seadoo. The only yamaha I really like is the VXS. I am saving for a down payment and hopefully will be able to buy one in the coming months.

Well it looks like I may have the means to finance one. May have to get the gts 130. The gts has the s3 hull correct? I want a seadoo because I plan on riding in the ocean. Is reverse a nesecity?

Yes that is a good entry level ski. Reverse is handy to have but not a necessity.
