Default Looking at a 1988 Yamaha Waverunner - What to look for when purchasing?

I'm going to go look at a 1988 Yamaha Waverunner tonight. It had a new impeller and impeller housing put in in 2009, and a new CDI and stator put in last season.

I've never owned (or ridden) a PWC before but I'm pretty mechanically inclined, wrenched on 2 stroke dirt bikes and similar small engines before.

I'm wondering what exactly I should be looking out for when I go to see it? I'll obviously fire it up and let it warm up, but other than that I don't know what else I should be looking out for as a "red flag" that means I shouldn't purchase it.

Any help is appreciated.

Also, do you think $1k with a trailer is a fair price for this pwc?

Thanks guys!

Check the compression and ask when the carbs were rebuilt last. If it's in good shape a grand is not a bad price with a trailer. Check KBB PWC values, if they go back to that far of vintage.
