Default When is a good time to buy?

So my in-laws gave my wife and I their old 1996 Tigershark that has been sitting in storage for the last 4 years. We got her out put in a new battery and spark plugs and have been enjoying it this summer. The thing is in perfect mechanical and cosmetic shape as it was hardly used and always storged inside out of the elements. Riding it kind of lit a fire under us to get another ski and newer model as we love spending time on the water. We started looking at used models and the more we looked the less we were impressed with what was out there, the used ones were either really expensive or really beat up and I have seen how some people beat these PWCs so we ended up buying a new 2011 Yamaha VX deluxe and we love it, it is definetly a step up from the Tigershark and it is a lot of fun. We figure we will get another so that we have two that are a little more equal.

We are both a little worried about buying used so we are thinking about buying another new one but trying to decided when a good time to buy it, we got a good deal on this one a few weeks ago and were thinking of waiting until spring comes and then buying another 2011 when the 2012s are out. What does everyone think? Are there more deals now or in spring?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

the 2012 yamahas were just announced last week but won't be out til spring. No changes to the VX series except color choices.

Usually a good time to buy is in the dead of winter (and during boat show season) but this year, inventories are lower than normal this time of year due to the Tsumami stopping production for a while earlier this year--while you may get a few hundred more off waiting til winter, you may not find the exact ski you want--may not be as many leftover '11s by then compared to a "normal" year--the VX is the #1 selling ski in the world so it sells fairly fast. If it's a matching VX to the one you have, may want to go for it now--it's end of season so deals should be pretty good.

We bought ours (FXHOs) last August to make sure we got what we wanted rather than wait (and to get two that "matched"--my wife thinks that's neat )--we got a pretty good deal and also got to ride them for a little while before winter.

Late October/early November is a great time to buy new or use. Dealers or private parties don't want the unit taking up space in storage all winter. I got a killer deal once this time of year.
