Default Honda Unveils Turbocharged AquaTrax F-15X

American Honda delivered some “big” news just after Labor Day. The company announced the introduction of an all-new AquaTrax—the F-15X, the biggest model in its lineup.

Featuring a new sculpted hull designed with acceleration and fast planing in mind, Honda raised the bond line on the F-15X to provide more splash protection and make docking easier. A new sponson design on the three-seater further contributes to the watercraft’s low-speed maneuverability and high-speed stability.

Of course, power is the name of the game as of late, and Honda’s new engine does not disappoint. Under the seat is a powerful turbocharged, 1470cc four-cylinder engine pumping out 200 bhp (aka brake horsepower, which is measured without the power loss caused by engine components). The fuel-injected engine features a one-piece upper-crankcase/cylinder block engineered to withstand the rigors of marine duty.

With a water-cooled intercooler, the new AquaTrax turbocharger produces a maximum boost of 10 psi to generate more power than a normally aspirated engine.

Like its F-12X sibling, Honda is producing a F-15X GPScape model with a built-in GPS and an easy-to-read LCD display. The GPS unit, which can store up to 100 waypoints, features a digital compass function indicating travel direction.

The F-15X is available in pearl white/metallic silver and bright blue metallic. The GPScape model is offered in candy red and bright blue metallic.

Is there any word yet on how this will compare with the big sea doo and kawasaki s/c models? I.e. Acceleration, top speed, handling, fuel economy?
