Default Honda r12x will not rev over 5450 rpm 2005

My 2005 Honda r12x with 15 hr on it will not rev past 5450 rpm. I have changed the oil and filter and the level is perfect replaced the spark plugs and checked the operation of the turbo. Turbo seems fine but I have found a restrictor type thing in the pipe coming from the charged air pipe to the turbo actuator not sure if this is normal? Any ideas guys? I am In belfast where we have no Honda dealers so I'm a bit stuck!!

The hidden restrictor pill has to be inside the 1" long tube coming off the turbo's outlet or else you'll only generate 8 PSI of boost instead of the 12.8 PSI it should. You might have a bad waste gate solenoid. There is a simple test in the honda section to GreenHulk to let you know if it is bad.

Thanks for that really wasn't sure if it should be there are not. With regards to the test I'm unsure where to find the details would really like to get the thing running the way it should. Only got the ski recently had a non turbo one for 3 years and it was twice the ski the turbo one is. If you could direct me where to find the info to test the wastegate solenoid it would be great

The wastegate solenoid is under your left butt cheek when sitting on the seat. It is mounted to the top of the valve cover at the rear of the engine with a single bolt. It is black and has an electrical connector along with two hoses going to it. The Test is on the websites PWCTODAY.COM and Greenhulk.net in both of the Honda forums. Use the search feature for the Nitro wastegate solenoid test or just look in the FAQs.

Thanks for that. Carried out the test and I need to have it replaced. Have ordered one from the USA 3 week wait so I have fitted a a donner one from an audi a4 and made a modified plug to plug it in to test the ski. Had it in the water today and it is flying don't think it has ever run right from I got it :-)

Enjoy your toy. As a suggestion, beofre you put it up every Winter, pull out the tiny phillips head plug going into the aluminum on top of the turbo's center inlet [look closely for it]. By pulling this plug you can fog [while running] the whole system using a spray tube and engine fogging oil. This will fog the whole system, including the WGS and might save you from some further issues.
