Rev limiting issue
Alrite so my bone stock 05 r12x is having a weird issue, at start up when its fully cold i feel a nice rattle noise coming from the bottom of the ski, maybe the pump area.
Than when i try to accelerate hard from a stop it basically just peggs the rev limiter and hops, does not really go anywhere until it like " catches traction" it seems
does anyone have any solutions for these problems??? the ski is bone stock performance wise so keep that in mind.
let me know
thanks

well i found a write up on how to remove the pump assembly and dissasseble and i did so tonight. the whole pump and everything came out, checked the bearings in the back no issue's, checked the splines on both the prop and the shaft itself no issue's there.
the only thing i found is with the jet pump assembly out i have alot of wiggle up front more near motor, it slides in and out about 2 inches or so and has some side to side wiggle etc.
do u think my problem is up there?? if so any input??

How is your clearance from the prop to the pump housing? If its to large and the prop is worn down this will cause a problem also.

Well while the ski is apart for me rebuilding the carrier bearing. How much clearance should I have? What is the proper measurment. Let me know I will do so
Also I recently switched to the aquavein r and d intake grate, I properly sealed the intake grate but. Do u think this added cavitation is caused because of the intake grate

Don't know much about Hondas. On Seadoos those symptoms sound like it would be a wear ring. It is between the impeller housing and the impeller if this is worn out it feels just like an auto trans in a car slipping.

I got the specs for measuring my wear limit, but this ski does not have a wear ring, so basically what is my option? If it is too worn, I have to buy a new impeller or new housing? Is they're anything else that could cause excessive cavitation

If there is more than a business card thickness of gap in the impelller blade to pump liner then you need a new impeller. Best prices are from Parkeryamaha.com or Mac at Macboost.
The pump liner is not replaceable, you have to change the whole pump stator. Usually the pump stators have to be changed when the corrosion behind the liner bulges it until it hits the blade of the impeller.
