Bad Fuel????
I own a 2006 F-12 turbo. The boat has 152 hours, and has never given any trouble....until today. I have ALWAYS put only 93 octane fuel in the boat, until yesterday. Was running low on fuel, so I stopped at the nearest marina on the water and fueled up, with either 87 or 89 octane fuel, I can't remember for sure which, it definitely wasn't 93 though. About 15 minutes of ride time after fueling up, the ski starts to run extremely rough, like a plug may be fouled or something. Once I got the boat back to my dock, I pulled the plugs, and they all look fine, none appear to be fouled. I made the assumption that the fuel that I had put in either had some water in it, or the octane level was too low, as this manual for this ski clearly says to use premium fuel. I added a bottle of StarTron fuel treatment, and also a bottle of octane boost, and ran the ski for approx. 30 minutes afterwards. It feels like it is a little better, but nowhere near normal. It still runs very rough. It does seem to idle fine, but once you give it the throttle, the roughness starts. It will run up to around 55mph, and I can feel the turbo spooling up, so I don't think it has anything to do with the turbo or wastegate. The tank is nearly full, so my question is would it be best to just run this tank of fuel out with the StarTron and octane boost in it, or should I drain the tank and start with a fresh tank of 93 octane?
