Default Bad Fuel????

I own a 2006 F-12 turbo. The boat has 152 hours, and has never given any trouble....until today. I have ALWAYS put only 93 octane fuel in the boat, until yesterday. Was running low on fuel, so I stopped at the nearest marina on the water and fueled up, with either 87 or 89 octane fuel, I can't remember for sure which, it definitely wasn't 93 though. About 15 minutes of ride time after fueling up, the ski starts to run extremely rough, like a plug may be fouled or something. Once I got the boat back to my dock, I pulled the plugs, and they all look fine, none appear to be fouled. I made the assumption that the fuel that I had put in either had some water in it, or the octane level was too low, as this manual for this ski clearly says to use premium fuel. I added a bottle of StarTron fuel treatment, and also a bottle of octane boost, and ran the ski for approx. 30 minutes afterwards. It feels like it is a little better, but nowhere near normal. It still runs very rough. It does seem to idle fine, but once you give it the throttle, the roughness starts. It will run up to around 55mph, and I can feel the turbo spooling up, so I don't think it has anything to do with the turbo or wastegate. The tank is nearly full, so my question is would it be best to just run this tank of fuel out with the StarTron and octane boost in it, or should I drain the tank and start with a fresh tank of 93 octane?

You would be best off draining the tank (pumping the tank) and considering it as a tank of gas for your car . Fill it back with premium and hopefully the roughness issue will be gone.

I am leaning towards doing that this afternoon, and possibly changing the plugs too, just in case. Thanks for the response, I'll post back with results tomorrow.

Pumped out all the fuel and refilled with fresh new 93 Octane. Rode the ski for about 30 minutes, seemed a little better and would run at approx. 5000 RPM, and approx. 53 MPH. Still runs rough, but still seems to idle fine. Tomorrow I will replace plugs and see if that corrects the problem.....Does anyone have any other suggestions?????

The guy I bought my skis from said he didn't even know you had to run premium gas in them??? He told me that he never had an issue with it, so I'm guessing that you got some bad gas ( I mean your ski). Make sure you don't throw your old plugs out until you know that's the problem, they are WAY to expensive to get rid of.

Change the plugs. If yours is a F12X [not a F12 which is non turbo] then it is a turbo and should run about 59 MPH and 6000 RPM.

Changed the plugs yesterday. The ski runs great now, like new again.

JR, yes it's F-12X turbo. Now that it's running normal again, the speedo shows 63mph @ 6000rpm. I've never GPS'd it though, I would imagine that the speedo is not exactly correct however.

Thanks for your help!

Great job man. Despite what someone may have said, keep running PREMIUM only. You will again foul your plugs if you don't.

I fogot to mention, that since I've bought the skis, I only use premium. I'll be changing my plugs in the spring...
