I have a running 97 900 stx, but the electrical gas/oil gauge does not seem to work. It always notes empty. The speedometer also does not seem to work correct.

not really sure about the stx but my 900 zxi did it once and it all stopped working when my fat mate sank it
have you tryed the fuses???
i unplugged every wire and plug dryed them out and filled the plugs with vaseline i didnt want to use greese as it would get messy i opened up the ebox that was dry and i opened up the trim box full of water dryed and sprayed some inox marine spay
i swicthed the ignition on every thing came to life i made sure it would start to see the tacho work i got an air blower and spun the speedo sensor wheel and even the speedo worked
