I just purchased a 1100 stx and when I started it, it smoked really bad and smelled rich. It has compression on all cyl, any ideas. Plus before everyone thinks I'm an idiot, I got 2 of them for $3500 and the other one runs great.
you wont get to many answers at this forum.... i find that there is hardly any meckanicly minded members that have only heard or been told how to fix a problom my best is to join a different forum .
sounds like you are running rich.
you could swap over the carbs to the other ski to see if the problom follows or stays .
also are these still running oil pump or premix ?
could be bad fuel or to much oil in fuel if premixed...
burning off oil from fogging from storage ...
are you fireing on all cylinders ?
but i would persannally look at the carbs strip them clean them replace any worn parts and re set the correct pop off pressures .... you say you have to of them i would swap over carbs to see if it makes any difference. could just be some thing stupid like out of adjustment. bearing in mind how much smoke is there i would rather have a fouled plug than run an engine to lean that leeds to a rebiuld
