Default 96 ZXI Overheating

Not long ago rebuilt my engine out of my ZXI 1100. Have had a over heating problem on 1 cylinder. New exhaust manifold gaskets only have small round holes. Should they have holes the same size as the ports on the manifold & head? Anybody know?

I can't answer exactly for the 1100 engine.
But many kawi gaskets have either no holes, or only small holes, where the ports or mating surfaces have larger cavities.
This is deliberate. They are trying to distribute water to several destinations, and need to balance the back pressure to assure the proper amount of water to each destination. If the holes were full size, all the water would probably go to the exhaust pipe and into the exhaust gas flow, and not enough would go thru the engine block.
As long as you have the correct gasket for your engine model, trust them on the hole sizes.

is it getting hot when running off the hose or is it getting hot while riding .i would sit the ski in the water on a trailer is fine at the marina and then moniter the temp . if you cant do it this way try and run the hose off the water inlet hose at the jet pump NOTE the flush is only to back flush not a cooling aid

the gaskits do have small holes to evenly space the water out also you dont want to much water flowing through as this will cause over cooling and primiture wear

my 900 zxi use to get hot on cyl 1 due to gaskits having silocon on them and blocking the hole i renewed the gaskits and it still got hot but not as hot it was before and the ski runs fine in water
i do notice #1 gets hot when running off the hose due to all the water running into the exaust pipe and very little water makes it to #1

As long as the gaskets are correct you should be fine there. Does it physically over heat or does the gauge say it's hot? Does it run hot out on the water?

You can also put a T in the hose that runs over to the exhaust side (top of the head to the exhaust), and then run a bow eye out the side, it gives a little more cooling to the head and you can always see that you have water flowing threw your engine. GroupK runs this set up on alot of their engines. Blowsin bow eyes can be found at Dennis Kirk for about 15.00 each. Just don't go over about 1/4 inch hose size , you still need some flow to the exhaust side but bleeding off some of the water from the head won't hurt.
