Default 1997 Kawi 750 super sport xi

Just picked this up last night for $500 with a new venture trailer under it. it runs but i didnt get the trim tabs to work although he just replaced the motor and cable. might just be some loose wires. is there any impeller oil that i need to replace? i want to have the thing in perfect order for the summer. whats the best oil to run in that motor? Thanks guys!!!

Nice buy! Your new ski looks very clean! The motor is a 2 stoke so the only oil is mixed in the fuel. I would just use any premium 2 cycle oil. The impeller shaft has a grease fitting that needs to be greased at least beginning and end of the season. I give mine a small shot after each use, but I go a little over board on maintenance. I would also throw in some new plugs. Enjoy your new ski!

I know it's a 2 stroke. I was just wondering if there are any preferences out there. Do many guys block off the oil injection an just premix? I really don't think I can trust that oil injection without some good words on it lol.

Those oil injection systems are pretty bullet proof. If you want a little insurance add a little oil in the fuel to supplement. Spark plugs are cheaper than an engine.

Yes I was deff going to throw some new plugs in! And is there a grease fitting on that shaft that can be used with a standard grease gun?

And ive read about these block off plates. not the one for the oil injection but the case of the motor. Are these worth it and what are thier purpose? i see they are only $12.

The block off plate is to eliminate the oil pump. Some swear by them but I just can't see the point unless it is a full on race ski and need a simpler mechanism as well as save weight. Many people dwell on "what if it fails" and block it off. If the injection system was junk the manufacturer would have done away them long ago. They are bullet proof, can they fail yes, do they fail often no. Keep the injection. Ther shaft uses a standard grease fitting.

So both of those plates are used to block off the oil injection for the gas mixture? I was under the impression that the bigger triangular block off plate was for something other than oil injection. so if i did want to just premix i would have to install both plates? thanks so much for this info 98yota!

With your help and all the research ive been doing today and yesterday, im going to replace the fuel filter, replace the fuel lines, replace the oil lines, and install new plugs. The guy that had it before me didnt winterize it yet so i amd going to use marvel mystery oil to winterize it. Anything else anyone thinks i should do?

That sounds like a good start. I would drain the gas tank (and oil tank) and replace with fresh fuel. Even if you keep the oil injection I would premix the first tank of fuel at 50:1, mark the oil tank level. Run it and see if the oil level moves, if it does you should be good to go!
