Default 750sxi Steering Cable Wire Replacement?

Is there anyway to only replace the wire inside the steering cable sleeve? Is there a replacement part available being only the wire and a non-crimped fitting on one end?

I slid the broken wire out and could easily slide a new one in and crimp the fitting on the other side - this would be much easier than removing the tank, water box, etc. to replace the whole cable.

Thanks for any help!

Never heard of replacing just the cable inside, possibly? the only way I could think of to get the replacement cable to put back inside, would be to purchase a new or used steering line, at that point why ruin the new one to replace yours, just put in the new one. You could try? And let us know how it goes, lol kinda curious now to see if its possible

I was looking at my watercraft superstore catalog and you can get a brand new steering cable for $49.95.

Thanks for the quick reply. If I get a new one I'll just install it - I wouldn't be able to re-crimp it if I just slid in the wire. Just don't feel like pulling the tank and water box!!

the steering cable is really that hidden??? i know on my yamaha the cable is held down with wire straps to the bottom of the hull along most of the cable, but i can easily dissconnect them and then just fish it out. Just an Idea if you havent thought of it already, if you do replace it. Attach a pretty strong but flexible wire to the end of the Steering cable so when you pull it out the wire will be in place of it. So installing the new one, you just attach it to the wire and Pull the wire back out and it feeds the new steering cable exactly where the old one was. kind of like how you replace trailer wiring
