2000 STX 900 starter help

Does anyone have an tips on replacing an STX starter?

Its jammed under the exhaust with not much room.
Do I need to remove the exhaust?

I know you probably already did it but, yes you have to remove the exhaust.... and prob have to order all new exhaust gaskets ... I even had to heli coil some of the bolt holes for the exhaust...2 were stripped... you will have to atleast remove the expansion chamber and the exhaust chamber to get to the starter .... might not have to remove the exhaust manifold..... but it would make it easier to get to...... have fun....

Hey Smille,

Yes I did replace the starter and I did remove the exhaust manifold.
It was very easy and didn't need to replace the gaskets either.
