I just bought a '96 1100 zxi and it smokes pretty bad when I first start it. I haven't been able to run it long enough to see if it stops when warmed up (not in water). The guy I bought it from said he rebuilt the engine last year so everything should be fine...is this normal after sitting all winter??...he said it was.

Nope. It's oil injected.

Another issue is the cold starting...I have to remove the flame arrestor and put my hand over each one of the carbs intakes and then it will start right up...normal??
