Default Newbie Question For You Guys

How it going everyone. Im having a problem hoping some of you guys can help me out with. I have a 96 kawa 750zxi. Recently the starter went out. I pulled out the motor just to go through it all and clean it up. I then found the stator all jacked up and replaced that. Right when i was about to put the engine back in, i just so happend to rotate the shaft that i assume that goes tto the pump. I noticed that it turns about 3/4 then gets stuck. If i forefully twist it, it will come keep turning. Im somewhat mechanically inclined when it comes to cars but jets skis are a whole new ball game for me. Im thinking i sucked up a shell or something and bent the prop. any help would be greatly apprec
