Default 94 750ss shaft from engine to pump question

I found an engine to put into my 94 750ss that blew up last summer. my question is when i removed the old motor the couplings from the motor to the shaft that goes to the jet pump were stuck together and pulled the "driveshaft" out about one inch, and i am not able to get it to go back in to where it is supposed to be. Should it just slip back into place if the splines are lined up, or is this going to be a major pain to get the shaft put back where it is supposed to be. I plan on starting to transfer parts on wednesday, so if anyone can help asap id appreciate it. I also plan to run premix, can i just leave the oil pump unhooked and take the tank out, or do i need to buy a block off plate? thanks.
