Default Need Help with first stand up.

Well I come here to the PWC gods for help. I have a 06 yamaha fxho that is fun but I want something to take with to play on. I have been looking for about a year at the kawi 440, 550, 650. I am like most and on a tight budget. I see a lot of them for 300-500 bucks but I don't know what to look for and what model I should look at for my first one. I don't mind a fixer upper but what is acceptable to be in needs of repair and whats not..... How much should I plan on spending to buy my first one? Just need a point in the right direction.

I am surprised... When I ask about the yamaha I get a ton of answers. Ask about a Kawi and none.....

Stay away from the 440. was crap.
All others are ok. Best get one as stock standard as possible, usually more reliable.
The 750 is easier to ride than the 650 and 550.
The 750 is also easier to get parts for.
I ride a 650 and have issues sometimes finding parts.

I honestly see more 550s around than any other kind of stand-up, and I have no trouble getting parts for them. I agree, they are tougher to ride than a 650 or 750.

that aside...ask around, co-workers, neighbors etc. There are a lot of them sitting in barns and basements and garages that never get ridden and can usually be had for pretty cheap.
