Default kawasaki starter motor

Hi, I own a kawasaki sxi 750. When i try to start it the starter motor turns engine over for a second then it sounds like it disengages. When i remove the spark plugs, the engine turns over freely. I've put a new starter motor on but it's still the same. I think it's an earthing problem. I've used jump leads from battery negative to engine but it still happens. Help me someone, please.

Interesting. I am wondering if it isn't where the starter is connect too in what would be similar to a fly wheel on an automobile? Take the starter out and see if that area is bad.

Also, check the starter you got. Maybe it is bad even though you just replaced it or is it possible that maybe it was not installed correctly?
