I have a 91 550 sx... and have been reading up on them. and i read in a few places not all 91s were reed valve induction..

how can i tell. it its reed valve or piston port... almost 100% sure that it is reeds... but just want to make sure. my guess.. the easiest way, is if the cylinders are black, or just a metal finish....

also curious what it is worth...
its a 91 550sx. Has WestCoast, dual carbs, exhaust, head, waterbox, mariner water grate and ride/turn plate, and believe the impeller/jet pump is also aftermarket..

ski runs great and is a blast to ride just had to replace the starter.. and now starts up with no problems...

the "SX" on 550sx tells you it's reed motor. As far as value, it depends on what side of the nation you're on. Over here (So. Ca) you'll get about $500-$700 based on condition. KBB.com for retail says $715. That's for a '94 (the oldest they offer values for)
