Hoping someone out there can help me.

I have a 1990 TS 650. It will not start anymore.
One small "click" is all it will do. The battery cables get REALLY hot. My buddy thought it was the starter solenoid, so we replaced that, but no change. A different battery did the same, so that's not it either.
Any ideas? All we can come up with is that perhaps the starter is bad, but that is a pricey guess if it is not the issue.

Probably the starter. My Yamaha 650 cranked slow for a while and then the day my new starter arrived it stopped working all together. A shorted or partially shorted winding in the starter can cause the battery cable to get very hot. I got a starter for mine off of ebay for like $90 and it has a 1 year warranty. Hopefully it holds up.
