1989 650 Kawasaki, took starte out and teeth look okay, there is another part inside the housing that the teeth go into, how do you take this piece out? Do you have to remove flywheel? Or do you think my teeth on the starter are bad even though they don't look terrible? What is that other part?

What does it sound like when u turn it over. Does it make a grinding sound, or like a humming sound? It could be that your starter is failing to punch out on ignition. Let me know.
