Default 1985 kawasaki js550 ignition problems?

i have an 85 js550 i have a hard time getting it to start. i usually have to move around the lanyard until it gets to the right spot to start sometimes taking a few minutes to find the spot. after it starts sometimes it feels like it has no power and takes a long time to get up to speed almost like it misfires sometimes. idk if i need a new stop/start switch or what help please thanks

your timing might be off, take the flywheel off and make sure the woodruff key is still good, sometimes they wear down and can make flywheel to slip causing it to misfire..make surethe two screw holding the stator are tight, there is two....
