I need to replace the shaft seal/bearing housing, mines cracked...this part here Kawasaki Driveline Rebuild Kit X2 /650 SX /Jetmate /TS /SC /SS XI /ST /750 SS /750 ZXI /XIR/750 SXI: ShopSBT.com

How is this part removed? I am going to have the pump rebuilt and the impeller replaced while its all apart since it have never been done and I've owned since new.
I can't seem to find much info on how to get this seal/bearing housing off. Manual says to remove the shaft, the engine needs to be pulled, is that the only way the shaft can come out to replace this part??

Yep, have to pull the engine. You will need to get a install gasket set. Watch for shims on the jet pump and engine plate, and mark their location. They need to go back in that specific spot.
I like to get a paint pen and draw a trace around the engine mount bolt washers on the bed plate. This will help with the realignment process.
For reassembly, install the pump, then loosely install the bearing assy with no sealant yet, then drive shaft. Then set the engine in. Install the bolts loosely using the circles on the bed plate. remove the bolts and slide the bearing back and apply a liberal bead of silicone, and loosely reinstall bearing.
Here's an ideal. Get a empty soda or beer can, cut off the ends, and cut it down the middle so you can lay it open. Trim it to the thickness of the drive coupling assy (about 2 1/2-3 inches I guess). get 2 hose clamps. With the engine in it correct location from the marks, and the bearing assy. loose, take the can and wrap the drive coupling, and clamp it in place. One clamp on the engine half, and one clamp on the driveshaft half. This should get things very close. Snug the bearing assy up. Remove the can, and do the final engine to shaft alignment with a feeler gauge and short (3 inch) straight edge.
Let me know when your ready, and we'll go through this more.

Thanks for the tips on shaft alignment! I have been through replacing the motor on my other ZXi last summer, so pulling the motor is no biggie, just wasn't expecting it for this. I can get the motor out by removing the carbs, exhaust U and just unbolting the exhaust expansion chamber. I had no shims on the pump anywhere.
Probably be ready to pull the motor and install the bearing/seal plate by middle of next week I hope....have 2 major projects going on at the same time so we'll see..the other is a car project.

Good, so you've been through the alignment process. The can deal is just something that came to me to try and get a good pre alignment to the pump while you set the bearing. Something that might work even better is get a piece of 20ga sheet metal rolled to fit, then cut it in half. Would be way stronger than a aluminum can.
