1997 1100 stx help! - PWC Forum: The best hang-out for Personal WaterCraft enthusiasts

Hey guyz, I'm new to this forum and I am looking for some help.

My ski just had new rings put in it before I got it, so they say. The Ski runs great at idle in or out of water. But it will not go past 37 MPH. I checked the compression and:

Cyl #1 - 105 psi
Cyl #2 - 110 psi
Cyl #3 - 110-115 psi

The carbs have been taken out and screens were cleaned, but no help. I don't wanna take the head down if I don't have to. Seems to be getting good fuel i guess, but stutters off take off.

Sounds like a carb prob? Adjusment? Any advice would be awesome. thanks!!

How many rpms will it turn?

Were the jets cleaned? Take off is usually adjusted with pilot jets. If it is stumbling try a smaller pilot jet.
