Lightbulb Fuel Types - Different Octanes

Just wondering if anyone has tried different octane fuels with 2 stroke engines like my 1100STX, what was the results (if any) and is it something worth trying?
I ask this because here in Australia we have a few options now including ethanol blends (10%) some that are 95 to 98 octane as opposed to the standard 91 etc.

Thanks!
