1998 Kawasaki ZXI 1100 with bad/intermittent power
My 1998 Kawasaki ZXI 1100 is having an electrical problem. Last year, the power was intermittent. I'd have to turn the key on and off a bunch of times to get it to work. This year, it isn't working at all. Somebody told me it might be my power switch, I plan on pulling it out today to check it out.
If this doesn't sound like a power switch problem, what other suggestions do you guys have?
If it is the power switch, I need to know if I can just hotwire it or if there the switch has any specific electrical properties (ie. resistance) that I need to be aware of. I plan on replacing the switch if it is the problem, but I'd really like to get my jet ski out this weekend if I can hotwire it for the short term.
Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

I don't think it's the switch. When it's "off", black-to-white reads as a connection, every other pin-to-pin reads as no connection. When it's "on", red to red/white stripe reads as a connection, every other pin-to-pin reads as no connection.
Any other ideas or suggestions?

Update:
Whether the switch is on or off, I get 11.85 volts across the terminals of the main fuse. Is this typical?
I get nothing accross the terminals of the trim fuse.

Update:
I pulled the top off the electrical box and there was a lot of corrosion in there and it wasn't exactly dry (The jet ski did take in a lot of water once in the middle of summer last year). Could any of the following cause my problem:
1. Bad solenoid?
2. Bad electronic control module?
3. Bad voltage regulator?
I'm leaning towards number two as my problem, but I'd like to get a second opinion before throwing money at one.

If the voltage regulator is bad, would that cause me to have no power whatsoever it only cause my battery not to charge?

I dried out the electrical box really well, still nothing. Is there a way to check the voltage regulator and ECU before replacing them?

I came across the data sheet for the voltage regulator and checked it out, it's definitely bad. If it's not THE problem, it's still A problem. I ordered a new one, I'll post an update when it's in.

Even though I didn't get a single hit on this thread, I figured I'd update it in case somebody has a similar problem in the future.
There was a broken red power wire in the electrical box, fixing it should solve my problem.
