2002 zxi 1100 intermittant speed power loss
Hello I have a 2002 ZXI 1100 that ran great for the first two seasons I owned it. I moved to Virginia and it sat for about 1 year. I finally found a place to ride it and now occasionally it intermittently loses engine power. In Houston it used to go about 65 mph (according to the speedometer). Now the max speed is about 55mph (again according to the speedometer). Sometimes when I'm riding it it will only go 45 mph often for quite awhile, then for a brief period it will speed back up to 55 mph, then drop back down to 45mph. One time it would only go about 25mph. It seems to have good spark on all three cylinders. I'm thinking it is a fuel delivery or carb problem like perhaps a sticking needle/seat. I'm familiar with motorcycles and snowmobiles but this is my first PWC. Changing the spark plugs did nothing to solve the problem and I'm planning on rebuilding the carbs and replacing the fuel filter which "looks" fine. Anything else I should be aware of ? I've read about the gas tank vent valve and temp sensor could these cause this issue? Also I've been searching but haven't found much does anyone know of a good article that explains the fuel system on these models and temp sensor function. Thanks.
