Exclamation High altitude adjusting...

I live in flagstaff AZ, 7000 ft. and have two JS550's, an 84' and a 85'. I bought them in PHX and I'm having some trouble tuning the carb just right... Any suggestions? I've heard that I may need to rejet the carb. also if anyone knows some descent mods for these bikes that would be appreciated as well! Thanks!!!

Hook them up to the hose and start from there. Small adjustments make a big difference. Do you ever see any other 550 people at the lake? You could ask them what they did, jet kits, stock, or how many turns out they are. That would be the easy, fast way, and take out a lot of guess work or senseless spending. Put pipes on them.

Default JS550s

Sweet thanks for the heads up dad! I have actually made a bunch of contacts in just the past week or so dishing out some good advice. We got the bikes dialed in pretty well once we learned what we were doing with the carb. Also picked up a manual which is helpin out. Anyone else have any Do's or Don'ts with an 84' & 85' JS550???

Dont ride it stock. Lol. Water box+ pipe is a good start. Depends on what you want out of them.
