Crank filling with fuel
I've got an old Kawasaki JS300, I was given it a few years ago after it had spent many years behind a neighbors cottage not in running condition.
After a carb rebuild and a new head gasket it was back in the game and has been running for about 4 years.
At the end of last year it started running rough again, and this spring it wouldn't fire up. It definitely felt like a fuel issue, so I rebuilt the carb again just in case (it didn't look bad though).
I set the carb back to factory settings which were very close to what I had it running at for the last 4 years. I then turned it over and it started and seemed ok, so I dropped it in the water. It ran for 5 sec in the water and died. I checked it out and it seemed like it was flooded so I pulled the plug, when I did, fuel came blasting out. When I removed the fuel return line fuel blasted out of there too. I then leaned it on the right side (carb down) and turned it over to blow the rest of the fuel out of the crank. I then put the plug back in and it fired up for another few seconds then I had to blow fuel out of the crank again.
I tried leaning out the carb but it feels like it is not getting enough fuel and once I open it up enough to fire, it floods the crank.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
