SLT 750 fuel pump update
Hi everyone, just got hooked up with a 95 slt 750 from an in-law. New to PWCs, but motorhead for life. Ride motocross, always wrenching on the bike and my truck.
Just got a few questions. Been doing my research on the ski and have read about the fuel issues and the engine damage that can result. This ski was flipped over for an extended period of time and engine was completely rebuilt in 2004 (have the invoice that was like $4000). Looks like no expense was sparred and everything was overhauled. Since then the ski has sat garaged.
My concern is if the shop did any fuel updates to correct the fuel issues or if I need to pursue this myself. Is there any way I can tell? I just ordered the airbox update kit as I figured it would be a good idea since I will be using this ski in the ocean for tow surfing into waves. Does the richer jetting on this kit correct the fuel problem or do I still need to do the fuel update?
I don't want to throw a ton of money in this thing, just want to have fun with. Motor is brand new so just want to do the necessary things to make it last. Any tips on what I should do before starting it the first time since it has been sitting for so long? I was going to do the plugs, drain the fuel, guess I should do the gear oil as well.
One more issue is that the reverse cable is stuck. Any hope that I can loosen it up with some lube or pb blaster or should I just look for a new one? Thanks for all your help.
