I hope that has helped some of you out. Below I have listed the numbers of the stator update kits for the older PVL ignitions.

Twins 96/97 2873355
Twins 97/98 2873022

Triples 96-98 2873091
Triples 99 2873356 this is for the sltx only.

8 Pin Connectors:

Triple 2460875(must use 4010170 stator) see above
Twin 2460718(must use 4010172 stator) see above
Hi you seem very sharp on these polaris watercrafts, please help me out, I bouhgt a 96 sl900 that idles well runs good up to 3500 rpms then starts missing or stuttering badly after that, while out of the water. in the water it will only run up to 40 mph the bog out. I was told there was a new stater put in 3 years ago. the ski has only 45 hrs. I checked the cdi box part no. and it matches the one that comes with the updated stator kit. I also checked the stater with an ohms test and one of the exciter coils reads 8 ohms and the spec say it should be 1250. all coils checked good. Is it possible that this newer version of the stator also went bad or what could my problem be. one dealers says that they just quit when the stator is bad another says different . please help thanks

I had the same problem on My 2002 Virage and it turned out to be the stator. Run a compression test on both cylinders. If they are within 10% of the specs, then run through the test procedure in the service manual for the stator. If both the compression test and procedure for the stator turn out to be fine, then replace the CDI box.

Other things that can be done.

1. Place fuel stabilizer in the tank
2. Check for fuel leaks between the tank and carb
3. Consider rebuilding the carb (filter might be clogged or the pulse diagram might be bad>
4. Check the impedance readings on the ignition coil
5. Check the ignition timing

Default timing on 2001 Virage.

I just got the specs on ht timing of the 2001 Virage. Thanks a Million Tech Library and for all those responsible for creating it. Now, how the heck do you change the timing with it running? I just rebuilt the engine, new crank and all, and the timing is outta whack. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Lou
