Can someone tell me how to properly check the charging system on my 1997 polaris sl900? I hooked up a digital voltmeter to the battery when it was running and it said 12.8 volts. I gave it a little gas (approx 1300 rpm's) and it didn't change. Is this normal? I figured it should be around 14 volts. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks

turn the meter to a/c volts
start motor
anything over .8 a/c volts bad reg/rect
