Default slt750 intermittent spark problem

I have a 1994 slt750 which runs good when it starts. once started, I can shut it off and restart it without any issues, but sometimes it just won't start after sitting. When i have a no start condition, it has no spark. I have ruled out the lanyard switch, and cut all the plug wires back, and when running the ski shows 14v. Can I assume the stator is good? My mfd reads HOT sometimes. Does the thermostat have any ability to kill spark (shut down motor when it becomes hot)? The hot message seems to correspond to the no spark issue, but I am not sure if it is jus a coincidence.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. What would be the most likely cause of intermittent spark problems?

Does it have the updated stator kit in it? The old parts had issues many times. I think the heat sensor just limits rpms. Night have to pull apart the electrical box and re-ground everything and/or check everthing out. Even seen a hole in the cdi box before.
