Default motor change

hi, i just bought a 96 polaris si700 and it needs a new motor.... and i am wondering if i can just drop in a bigger motor with out any major modifications. or am i better off just rebiulding the one in it?
because i found a rebuilt polaris 1050 motor that i would like to put in there but not sure if it will fit.
