Default SLX rookie - water leak and other questions

I am a long time ski boat owner but just got my hands on my first jet skis this week. A Polaris SLX and a Virage, no idea what year models. The SLX ski runs great but I have about 2 inches of water in the hull all the time. After a short run everything under the seat is dripping wet (including both air filters). The drain plugs are fitted in well and no obvious damage spots to allow water entry. Assuming it should be relatively dry under seat, can anyone give me advice on the most likely places a jet ski takes on water and tips on those repairs?

Rookie question - I need to start the motor while at home (out of the water). What is needed to hook up a water hose to supply cooling water on the SLX?

Virage will not start. Battery is new and turns over the motor easily. Pressue in both cylinders is around 140. Air filter on single carb is clean. Fuel is delivered to the input of the carb. Plugs are new and are delivering spark. Tried to start with gas/choke and then starting fluid. One time it seemed to hit a single power stroke, but the rest of the time no indication that spark, fuel and air are arriving properly to do their job.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Else, back to the ski boat.
