Default Polaris SL1050

Hello - Last year when connecting the battery of my SL1050, the control module started smoking. Lost all electrical after that and ground wires show heat damage. It's a 1997 PWC that just a blast to drive and I really hate to give it up! Our local Polaris PWC dealer in Bad Axe, MI closed a few years ago. Can anyone recommend a mechanic or service location ANYWHERE IN MICHIGAN that might be able to fix the electrical? Not sure that the cost will justify the end, but I sure do hate to retire it. I've found that all the other jetski mechanics don't work on Polaris now. All advice appreciated.
