Pittsburgh Watercraft Performance is having its 1st Annual Jet-Ski Drag Race! Come compete against your friends to see Who Has the Fastest Jet-Ski on the River! There will be professional timing equipment & double elimination races in each of 4 ski classes: 2-stroke 800cc engines and below, 2-stroke 801-1300cc engines, 4-stroke naturally aspirated engines, and 4-stroke super-charged or turbo-charged engines. 1st place in each class gets a cash prize, and 2nd & 3rd place winners get plaques and bragging rights!

The race is being held on July 24, 2010 at the Oakmont Yacht Club Regatta @ 11 Washington Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139 at HIGH NOON. Spectators are welcome free of charge. There is a $30 participant entry fee, which partially goes to the International Jet Sports Boating Association, which is sanctioning the event, and partially to the Remi Savioz Glut1 Foundation.

The Remi Savioz Glut1 Foundation is a charity that supports awareness and education regarding Glucose Transporter Type 1 Deficiency Syndrome, which is a very serious neuro-metabolic brain disease that reduces the amount of glucose that reaches the brain. Although usually not apparent at birth, the symptoms begin to manifest shortly thereafter. The disease causes neurological and developmental delays and disability. GLUT1-DS is considered a "rare" disease: possibly because of the lack of accurate diagnoses. Due to the small number of known cases, there is little corporate or government financial support to increase awareness & fund research to find a cure and better treatment. Remi Savioz is an 11-year-old Pittsburgher with the disease. Remi, and kids like her, are relying on people like all of us to spread the word.
