Default 1996 SEA DOO SPX intermittent cavitation

hey all i have a 1996 spx that i broke the motor mounts on last week. i replaced the mounts however did not realize i pulled the drive shaft all the way out, and when i put it in the water i had nothing. i brought the ski home fixed the drive shaft went back out and if worked great for about 45 minutes. the all of the sudden it started cavitating out of the hole. once moving it was fine. it did that for about ten minutes then was fine again without cavitating. then 5 minutes or so later nothing out of the hole again. can the wear ring just suddenly go or is the problem something else because it's intermittent? thanks all

Yeah the driveshaft splines are probably stripped. There is a lil black bumper the goes on the end if the driveshaft to keep it in the sweet spot.
